Lizzo lashed out at critics for being ‘fatbophic’ if they did not like her Met Gala look on Monday in NYC.
But soon after the singer made those comments, her Instagram followers stepped in.
Several said that they did like her gown as well as her shape, but they were not happy with her headpiece.
One said it resembled a dog cone: MikexParker wrote, ‘Lizzo ur wearing a dog cone…’
‘Im not fatphobic I just don’t like the headpiece,’ barked back The Babe Moon.
Kathryn_Wagner1 was more polite: ‘The dress is beautiful. ❤️ Not sure about the head piece?’
Kailoki got right to the point: ‘I love and support you Lizzo but we gotta jump the stylist out.’
The Grammy Award winner, 36, shared pH๏τos Monday night of her Met Gala look with a message for those who didn’t like her ‘vase dress’ by Weinsanto.
‘IF IM NOT IN UR BEST DRESSED UR FATPHOBIC,’ Lizzo captioned one pH๏τo with emojis of a tongue sticking out.
She was decked out in a sleeveless ɴuᴅᴇ dress with shimmering fabric, but the top and bottom of the ensemble pulled attention.
Lizzo wore a bowl-shaped headpiece that extended several inches above her head, along with an upturned skirt, which the designer described as a ‘vase dress’ to Vanity Fair.
Featuring a ‘full body corset,’ the dress hugged Lizzo’s curves and featured a sizzling sheer panel over her chest to highlight her cleavage.
The look also featured tiny leaf designs, which made her like a scene from a gorgeous autumn day complete with falling red, orange and yellow leaves.
Conceptual sketches of the dress and a pH๏τo of the original version from Weinsanto indicate that the outfit previously had no face cut-out, though Lizzo may not have wanted to go to such a high-profile event with her face hidden.
Fans and critics of the recording artist seemed to enjoy poking fun at the unusual outfit on social media.
‘When Lizzo gets completely out of this cocoon, she’ll be a beautiful ʙuттerfly,’ joked one user on X (formerly Twitter).
Another person noted that her outfit had ‘meme potential,’ and they couldn’t ‘wait to see the results.’
The Barstool Sports account joked that ‘Dudes see this and all they can think about is crumpling up a piece of paper and shooting it at Lizzo’s dome.’
One person joked: ‘Not bring snacks to the #MetGala while Lizzo is trying to look like the brown bag the snack came in.’
One person wasn’t afraid to be blunt about the dress.
