Lizzo has taken to social media to clarify her statement after she said she was ‘quitting’ music following backlash over a lawsuit filed by some of her back up dancers
Lizzo has made a new video to explain what she meant when she said she was “quitting” music. She wore a pretty teal bodysuit with matching eyeshadow and her hair was styled with curls. She put a red heart emoji on her post.
“I want to make this video because I just need to clarify. When I said ‘I quit’ I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention,” she explained at the start of the video. Lizzo also said: “What I’m not going to quit is the joy of my life, which is making music which is connecting to people,” letting everyone know she loves making songs and being with fans.
She added: “In no way shape or form am I the only person who is experiencing that negative voice that seems to be louder than the positive. If I can just give one person the inspiration or motivation to stand up for themselves and say they quit letting negative people win, negative comments win, then I’ve done even more than I could’ve hoped for.”
Lizzo finished by saying she’ll keep going and stay true to herself. She thanked her fans, saying their love means a lot to her.
The star has faced some tough times after she was taken to court by her backup dancers. They accused her of Sєxual harᴀssment, racial and religious harᴀssment, and the creation of a hostile work environment. Lizzo strenuously denied the claims.
Last Friday, Lizzo shared how she felt on Instagram. She expressed how upset she was about all the backlash and claimed she was done with music.
