Our Town officially returned to Broadway in October after weeks of previews that started on September 17.
The revival of the play, which was first performed in 1938, features more diverse casting and includes Jim Parsons, Zoey Deutch, Ephraim Sykes, Julie Halston and Michelle Wilson.
‘We have this wonderful, beautiful group of actors and we’ve all been working hard to bring this to the stage and it’s very exciting,’ Holmes said in a promotional video shared on social media.
Holmes stars as Mrs. Webb, mother to Deutsch’s protagonist Emily. Richard Thomas of The Waltons fame stars as Mr. Webb.
In an interview with Playbill, Holmes spoke about working on the show and the new approach to the universal story.
‘He didn’t want this to be a play about nostalgia,’ the Dawson’s Creek alum said referring to director Kenny Leon.
‘He wanted this to be a play about village life set against the stars, against humanity.’
